Seven Wonders Of The World Environment
GENEVA - Amazon rain forest, Halong Bay in Vietnam and waterfalls Iguazu, Argentina named as one of the seven wonders of the new world environment.
Four other similar locations which receive nominations is Jeju Island, South Korea; Komodo, Indonesia, Puerto PrincesaUnderground River, the Philippines and Table Mountain in South Africa.
Promoter, New7Wonders Foundation said the final decision will be announced in early 2012. Foundation based in Switzerland, however, insists there might be a temporary change in the list of winners and the final list.
The locations that fail to be listed, including Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania; Dead Sea, Israel and the Grand Canyon in the UnitedStates (U.S.).
Polls conducted by the New7Wonders of interest to real people. It also includes celebrities, such as Argentina soccer star, LionelMessi, who invites fans to select the Iguazu waterfalls.
The final result is obtained after a long process, starting fromDecember 2007 until July 2009. In this period, citizens of the world are asked to vote their location as a miracle ofenvironmental thought.
More than one million votes received for short listing 440locations in 220 countries to 77 locations. The list was thenreduced to 28 finalists by a panel of experts. - AFP
